The greatest threat
to people and property and the peace and beauty of The Passage is
fire. Milsons Passage has had a Rural Bushfire Brigade for
many years. It's made up of dedicated volunteers from the
community and meets the first Sunday morning of each month at its
headquarters to practice and prepare for the bushfire we hope will
never arrive.
In 2008 it was issued with its own fire barge and tool it to the annual water-based brigade practice day for the first time in March 2009..
We left early in the day in high spirits, ready to take any challenges the organisers might set.
And returned weary, but proud of how well we had done, all things considered.
Early in '06 we got together for the first time
with other water-based brigades to test our skills and build bonds
with fellow water based "firies" using one of our own domestic barges.
