It looked like selling up and saying a lot of sad farewells was the only option until the locals at Milsons Passage started to scratch their heads and think well outside the circle.
The “Carrick Lifter”, named after its chief inventor and builder John Carrick has miraculously solved the problem.

He’s then safely lowered to a pontoon or jetty to transfer to a wheelchair or electric scooter. For the return journey, the process is simply reversed.
